A smooth and intuitive touch screen ensures that anyone can use a U:Genius3 with virtually no previous experience of gel imaging.
U:Genius3 – from switch-on to perfect image at a touch.
U:Genius3 is the perfect choice for low budget gel documentation and analysis fluorescence applications. It features a compact darkroom which has a sliding front door and an internal LED white light.
U:Genius3 has a 3m pixel camera. A manual zoom lens and manual filter drawer (includes a UV filter) completes the package. U:Genius3 is also available with a motor driven lens (U:Genius3 EZ).
There are two options of transilluminator - both models can slide out of the darkroom to aid cutting and viewing. One option is the slimline 302nm transilluminator for UV applications. This can be used with an optional converter for white light applications. U:Genius3 can also be used with the Ultra-Slim LED blue light transilluminator.
The system comes complete with GeneTools analysis software.
U:Genius appears in Horizon: Why are we getting so fat on BBC1 on 7/6/16. The unit was in use at the University of Southampton LifeLab, Southampton Education School by Dr Kathryn Woods-Townsend to analyse DNA (+31 minutes). Blue light transilluminator
Used when alternative dyes to EtBr are required. A blue light transilluminator is a "safe" light source in that the user is not exposed to harmful UV radiation and samples are free from photonicking. This transilluminator replaces the UV transilluminator in all products.
UV-blue light converter screens
These come in two sizes 21cm x 26cm and 25cm x 30cm and are used to change harmful UV into blue light. They are made of scratch resistant plastic and are easy to retrofit onto a UV transilluminator.
The filter slider takes the 58mm range of filters.
We recommend a thermal A6 printer such as Sony or Mitsubishi. These USB printers will ‘plug and play’ with the U:Genius3 processor and require minimal setup. They will print hard copies of images in under 5 seconds on long life glossy thermal paper to give photographic quality images.
