Syngene's unique software guarantee provides free updates of GeneTools and GeneSnap for the life of the system. In order to provide you with the latest tools we constantly seek to improve and evolve our software utilising, where appropriate, the latest advances within the field of Molecular Biology.
New versions of our software products are released roughly every 6 months and are available for download from this website. Make sure you bookmark this page and return regularly. Alternatively, you can request to join our mailing list and we will contact you when a new release is available.
Please note that these updates are not suitable for systems running Windows 3.1 or Windows 95.
We often release updates for Syngene systems, particularly for GeneSnap, which bring new functionality and improvements to your system. Most of the time these upgrades are to the software rather than the hardware. Our latest upgrade, however, is a 'firmware' upgrade that improves the performance of the cooled 4m pixel camera which is found on the G:BOX iChemi XT model. The upgrade affects the efficiency of the cooling system and improves image quality. If you possess a G:BOX iChemi XT we strongly advise that you download and install this firmware upgrade now.
Please note - It has come to our attention that a recent Windows Update (KB973507) has caused a problem with the histogram function in GeneSnap and GeneTools. This stops the Composite Image working in GeneSnap and the Colony Counting in GeneTools. We have produced a patch to fix this problem.
- Click on Histogram Update
- Save the file HistogramUpdate.zip in your PC
- Extract the zipped file into a folder such as (c:\HistUpdate)
- Run the update by double-clicking on Setup.exe
GeneFlash 0.34
Update to the latest version of GeneFlash software (version 0.34). To upgrade to this latest version, save the downloaded file from your computer to a USB memory stick, place this in the GeneFlash and select 'Update software' from the Settings list.
GeneTools 4.01 (e)
The latest GeneTools update features a number of new functions including: copying selected results directly to the clipboard and the ability to set an expression standard (see release notes for further details).

GeneDirectory
Version 2.01(b) of GeneDirectory has the following new features: 1) the track search facility can now be used to search through all tracks (classified or not); 2) Windows 7 compatibility.
GeneSnap 7.09(r) (24rd June 2010)
The latest GeneSnap includes new versions of some camera drivers that support the revised camera electronics and Windows 7, both 32 and 64 bit versions. If upgrading to 64 bit Windows 7, please contact Syngene Support (support@syngene.com) prior to installing the software to check compatibility for your software.
The earlier version of the iChemi interface required the user to select a target acquisition time based on how long they thought the sample would take on film. The revised interface presents the user with a choice of quality versus speed options
