Quantity

  • Manual input of calibrated standards and quantities
  • Various linear or quadratic calibrations can be selected

Spot blot

  • Optional spot or slot blot
  • Works in grids or non grid formats
  • Random spot/slots automatically located
  • Auto detection of absorption or fluorescence
  • Ability to set all spot/slots to one size or auto detection with variable size
  • Auto compensation for grid variances

  • No limit to the number of manual background subtractions
  • Auto selection of nearest background for subtraction
  • Incidence parameters for positive and negative reactions with both 'greater than' and 'less than' values or a range of values can be set
  • Incidence value can be set using raw volume, percentage of total, pixel area of spot/slot, calibrated quantity value
  • Volume calibrations
  • Display of calibration curves

Colony counting

  • Superb NEW colony counting function
  • Auto counting of colonies with manual editing capability
  • Ability to count light and dark colonies on the same plate as well as two colour colonies at any one time
  • Ability to vary the position and size of area of interest
  • Unique auto-separation of colonies
  • Proprietary algorithm gives near 100% accuracy - therefore no need for an adding or subtraction, manual editing function
  • Variable sensitivity for detection
  • Ability to set min and max colony areas
  • Class split for two colour colonies giving count and % area of plate covered
  • Ability to show shape of detected colony
  • Manual X and Y positions
  • Brightness, contrast and Gamma control
  • Define areas of exclusion – also adjustable
  • Results table

Arrays and plates

  • Total auto detection of spot patterns without the need for manual skewing
  • Detection of spot patterns at any angle without need for adjustment
  • Auto background subtraction, no need for a blank background subtraction
  • Immediate export into Excel of all data for comparison information

Gel scoring

  • Auto positive and negative and presence and absence of bands
  • Results shown as table

Band matching

  • GeneTools has band matching facilities. This gives the user the ability to align bands, determine track relationships and compare track data. This is all achieved automatically but with the added advantage of manual override.
  • Band matching by position, defined Rf or calibrated molecular weight
  • Tolerance variation (%)
  • Auto match function
  • Dendrogram, cluster analysis
  • Choice of analysis and display algorithms
  • Matching comparisons (presence and absence)
  • Matching matrix
  • Matching coefficients

Manual band quantification

This section of GeneTools allows the user to manually quantify bands, spots or other objects on a sample. The drawing tool may be rectangular or free-hand, giving total flexibility. Once all areas of interest are specified, a background correction may be applied automatically or manually selected from the surrounding sample. The user is able to quantify and perform threshold analysis using positive and or negative controls. Standard curve data may also be entered. All data is instantly exportable to Excel ® .
